Behold my devoted shepherd,
Beloved consort of my heart
Take me to your lush garden
Take me to the abundant orchard of my Demuzi
Where your fruit is ripe and sweet
I long for it's rich nectar to meander down my bejewelled neck
Between ivory skin and lapus lazuli
Like delicate weeping amber dewdrops
That trickle from the fragile petals of lily of the valley
I yearn to enfold myself in the softest green velvet turf
A magnificent royal robe you have laid before your queen
Inanna Ishtar will dazzle her beloved paramor with many glorious gifts
Befitting her Demuzi, the envy of all the celestial angels
A crowned halo of dazzling starlight diamonds
Scattered betwixt Jasmine, lilac and ivy
The sun she gives to wear as a satin girdle
With brilliant tassles of fringed golden rays
The moon a glowing pearl orb pendant
She bestows upon his noble breast
She summons the four winds to harness his fierce chariot
Ishtar Innanna, commands Tiamet worthy of protective armour
Her Demuzi shall fear no foe that dare defile his glory
They bathe in the tepid crystal clear waters of their unshed tears
They breathe the pure innocent breath of unborn babes
Unbridled by their joy, their ecstasy manifests a universe within
They plead to the heavens to bless their divine bliss
A sacred reunion that no God can put asunder
An eternal pledge of the unconsolable mortal soul
Alas Inanna Ishtar eternally laments and mourns for her lost love
