"Morality which depends upon the helplessness of a man or woman has not much to recommend it. Morality is rooted in the purity of our hearts." Mahatma Gandhi
Man wasn't meant to live with his feet firmly planted in the ground - nor was he meant to live with his head in the clouds...
Our eyes should always be geared heavenward - Facing the East is a Technique that is used by the Ancient Rishis. It meant that they turned their eyes skywards whilst meditating - this helped them to focus on the image of the Heavenly Creator through the images that manifest behind closed eyes. This teaches us that behind our eyes is infinitude - infinite possibilities, limited only from our frame of mind... Fear is the mind killer.
We hold ourselves back because of an ideal - normally it is in the belief of 'not having.'
It is odd however, to read that so many of the world's most wealthiest people began with nothing - sure, they had the families to support them, but usually, these families assisted them through giving them the correct tools to earn for themselves. What they needed to learn was the drive and attentiveness to achieve based on their own merits.
One of the greatest life lessons for me was in watching a UK television show featuring Gordon Ramsay and his first restaurant - he was about 25 when he opened his first restaurant - Petrus. After working a full day in the Kitchen and then wrapping up the day doing his accounts - after everyone had left for the night - he would stay behind and continue working on his craft till daybreak. His passion was working on his skills and menu. His efforts initially didn't pay off as he was forced to close Petrus - but the skills he developed made him the man he is today - that infatigable devotion to one's upliftment is the only true way to escape our current trappings.
Sacrifice is necessary. But so is having a vision.
Our goals may not be achievable where we currently are - we may have to sacrifice our ideals as to what is 'comfort' and 'security' for a while to achieve the social freedom we need to launch ourselves into realms our minds aren't currently capable of perceiving - but we have a vision and a drive.
The key then is always to be motivated towards the Upliftment of the 'Son of Man,' to work honestly and sincerely, virtuously and with right-reason.
There is never a ledge - there is only the invisible and untapped potential. We cannot fear the unknown because it is the unknown - fear instead that we will give up before trying - before giving ourselves permission to take that leap and allow our faith to guide us towards glory.
In life, there are no wrong answers - just costs - every action and belief has a cost - that may bring reward or suffering... But, when our intention is to work in service of the Light - we will always work towards uplifting ourselves and our fellow man... In this we can always trust above all things...
