Teaching Children, or is it the other way around :)
My youngest, Sammy Jo, never ceases to amaze me. this morning we were heading out to Y camp, and her dad was supposed to meet us there with her lunch cooler and gymnastics bag. When I called him to let him know we were leaving, so he could meet us there, he asked me. "So, I need to bring her lunch and a towel, right?"
I replied, "no, lunch and a gym bag"
And we proceed to argue back and forth what he was asked to bring last night when Sam talked to him... she very clearly told him the bag, not a towel.
So, she hears me talking to him and says, "great, he forgot again what he was supposed to do"
I told her it wasn't that big of a deal and to just let it go. She then informed me she wasn't letting it go, she was irritated and he never listens. I laughed and told her is it really that big of a deal? Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things, to get all upset over something like that?
And she says to me... "Mom, if you need paint and ask your dad for paint, and he brings you a pencil, what is the point?"
She says, "I don't want a pencil. I need paint, or in this case a gym bag."
Can I tell you how hard I laughed over that??? I am firmly convinced at this point, my # 1 purpose in this life is to raise healthy kids. Clearly their dad isn't paying attention!
