Empath Visions Help Please

I was reading a bit about how as an empath to make sure that the energies that I pick up on dont attach themselves to my aura and it was really helpful. What really bothers me is when I get flashes...like a movie or a slide show of situations that are coming from someone around me. I dont like going around a bunch of strangers in a crowd for this reason. For some reason its never their puppy giving them a kiss or them in a garden...its usually negative visions, some of them downright scary. Sometimes I am aware of where the energy is manifesting other time I dont. I can be driving and just make eye contact with someone and see things that I dont understand. I have tried psychic warrior/defense books and lessons...they helped some but only when I was under direct attack. One reason I really want to connect with my guides is to help me with this. One of the reasons I am here (other than lightworking) is because I no longer can ignore and block out what is happening to me and has happened to me. I want to understand it. I want to know if there is something that I can do, is there something I am supposed to do. I dont understand why its always something negative. Any thoughts, ideas, teachings, experiences that you could share would be appreciated deeply.
Having this site has been a blessing and I know this is where I am supposed to be. I dont even know how I ended up here...weird, I wasnt looking for anthing of the sort, so I know I was guided here. Its so wonderful to know that I am not alone. I have so much to learn. I feel like I am waking up at last.
