"Manure Happens. The Power of Poop. A Greenhouse Gas Turns Renewable Energy."
With elections around the corner and more and more people becoming concerned with the state of our planet, it is more important than ever that our focus does not just center around the carbon output of our society. Mass consumption of a growing global population demands much from Earth.
Livestock play a vital role in much of human diet and this is not going to change. Humans rely on these animals for many things and the more we demand the more methane will be produced. This is un-avoidable. The question should really be...What can we do with the methane emissions from manure?
If we are to talk about implementing renewable energy, methane must be considered. This energy source has already proven to be effective in producing electricity and, with the added benefit that it no longer enters into our atmosphere, we need to turn on the political pressure for implementation of this as one of the solutions to our energy dilemma.
