Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd. -- Alexander Pope
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, is my all time favorite movie. The most romantic movie ever made too, for that matter.
I love every single thing about it. I love the director and the daring approach to motion picture making and for making such a challenging script come to it's right so immensely well.
I adore the actors, preforming remarkably in roles so 'out of character', no typecasting there!!
I love the way they dug so deep, and bared their souls to create this beautiful vulnerable piece of art.
But what I probably love most about it is that it is so Pure, so Honest.
I appreciate honest art. Not all art you come across is honest.
There are a bunch of additions to my intense deep love for this picture.
I thoroughly enjoy the quotes & script...
“What do we do?” “Enjoy it.” Brilliance hides in the contradiction between surrender and fight of faith. Is all predestined? Even free will? ...yes! :)
I strongly identify with the characters. Without, it could never have such an impact, of course.
I understand Clementine. I think she is fascinating. I see a lot of myself in her. I love sweet, honest, introvert Joel. I understand him and I understand why they are so drawn together. I feel their bond.
I love her speech in Joel's memory; after he run from the house when they first met, and he comes looking for her bidding for a second chance in the bookstore.
She is fair, bold and uncharmingly honest. She can look into his eyes and tell him she is not his savior nor a concept. I love that speech too, Joely :)
The music is so delicately picked and created. Nothing is overdone in this master piece.
I just wanted to share that with you all.
Art is honest when it comes from the heart, thus is a multidimensional reflection of God.
But art can come from the ego too. Raping the perfect innocence of the intention of art, in my opinion of course. Luckily the reaction upon 'fake art' can be pure and Godlike and therefor almost transform the intention.. unaware the creator :)
Thát is magical. That is God. And God is Love. Therefor only, I believe.
Thank you to Charlie Kaufman & Michel Gondry, for enriching our lives with such pure beauty.
With love, m
