For my American friends as well as many people around the world, the inaugaration of President elect Barack Obama is a historic and long awaited day. It gives me hope that change is possible and someone like President Obama could inspire the United States to fulfill its long awaited destiny in the world stage.
If I were in Washington, I too would have been one of the 4 million people lining the streets to be a part of this momentous occasion. This is truly history in the making. We are living historic times. Having said that, I do also feel the need to write, in an energy of love and genuine hope, that beyond the hype of using Gandhi’s inspirational words, that this new administration will act accordingly and create concrete strategies for change. It has to put its money where its mouth is. I also encourage aware and enlightened citizens to continue to use their God-given discernment at all times and not get caught up in any movement, slogan or catch the fever for something new blindly. Let’s be excited and then let’s get to work. Let us evaluate as we go using our discernment, our inner compass and our own inate wisdom. Let us look beyond the veil of media savvy campaigns, to see what is and what is not and then decide if that is right for us. Let us make use of our own inner compasses and allow them to guide us on the right path. Remember that all that glitters is not gold. Let us start fresh with new beginnings and new inspired ideas but let us not be lead by blind faith. Let us have hope and let us be the change we want to see beyond the well-crafted speeches and inspirational talk. Let us continue to believe while remembering that within every be-lie-f is a lie.
