WATER LESSONS
I love water because it moveswith gentleness, fluidity & powerall at the same time. And it has something else:a stark certainty of purpose.Knowing raised to an art. That's how water lives.
But we, we do it differently. We humans are too clever to hearour inner biddings full tilt.We have histories, habits, patternsblocking our view. With all earnestness, we tryto hear the whispers of Godthrough our own interior barriers, which so often muddle the message.Water doesn't question or translate.Water is simply sure.
Just watch the sea with me:it rises, reaches, surges forward, dances in joy for a long moment& then recedes with slow eleganceall in response to the call of the moon.
And it's all done without trappings;no instructions are needed. The connection is relentlessly clear; each motion perfect. The moon & the sea are one;and that's all there is to it.
I am one with God,but being less certain than water:more distracted, more programmedmore interruptive in my attention,I hear only sometimes.
I watch this dancing waterteach me clarity, and here's how my prayer goes:I want to know God from my gutin every now,the way a single sleek wavemoment after momentleaps up without hesitationto taste the distant moon.
