Reading C0mBineD's recent blog, gave me a thought. Apart from the materialisic aspect to holidays, how do people here handle religious holidays? I've only recently had my awakening, so I haven't had to encounter this issue yet. My family and my husband's family is Catholic, though not devout, and that's how they raised me. Christmas, in particular, is a particularly big celebration for both sides of the family. So, fellow LWers, how do you handle family religious holidays when you no longer celebrate that particular religious tradition? Is it contrary to my purported belief system, to celebrate the Christmas tradition (i.e. exchanging gifts, putting up a tree) without subscribing to or becoming involved in the specifically Catholic part, i.e. attending Christmas Mass?
