August 13 marks the runic half month of Ansuz. Ansuz is said to symbolize an aesir, a Norse deity, and most probably, Odin, the chief god of the Scandanavian pantheon, as well as a fearless warrior and the source and seeker of great wisdom. It is told Odin hung upon Yggdrasil, the world tree, in order to be rewarded magical knowledge contained in the runes. Ansuz, is therefore a runic vehicle of divine inspiration, knowledge and communication. Ansuz is also said to represent the Ash tree, it is a strong and resilient tree but it carries the scars of its many battles against the raging storms. What it is saying to us is that the hardships of the past leave clues in the present which are there to guide us and bring wisdom. Interpretation: Important information will be communicated to you, be aware and alert to it as it may require you to recognise its significance. Seek counsel from your elders, remember wisdom can come through through learning from the experience of others. This rune is about communication of all kinds including the artistic forms. It also never symbolises the power of words and cautions us to beware that we do not wound or offend with our words. You may not have all the information you need to make the decisions before you. The information you do have may be unreliable or false and this could adversely affect your judgment. The relevance of a certain piece of information may not be immediately apparent. You must be alert to life's lesson for you must embrace each one before you can move on.
