The Celtic tree month of the wine commences today, and ends ends on September 29.
As the bearer of wine-providing fruit, the grapevine has long been considered a symbol of plenty and prosperity,
as well as of the fall (when grapes are harvested)
It also resonates with profound mystical symbolism; red wine is especially associated with the blood
of such sacrificial victims as Jesus Christ, while the ancients believed that
Dionysus or Bacchus have humans wine to enable them to experience a divine state of ecstacy.
The wine can consequently denote resurrection and immortality too.
