I have become hypocrite, by the way of facebook. Last week I was saying it made me sad to see all the friendships lost and now I changed my mind. In 2000 I worked for a Colorado Ski resort and had 30 Brazilian college students working in my outlet, and I became very close with Plinio, a law student. I kind of adopted him, and took care of anything I could for him. When the season ended and he went back to Brazil, my heart broke to see my wonderful friend go. He invited Calvin, my husband (boyfriend at the time) to visit him in Rio, and we did! We went 5 months later for our honeymoon and stayed on and off in his apt. with his Mom, Ava, for 6 weeks. Ava took wonderful care of us and coordinated all our travel for us, including transportation, tour guides, weekly home rentals, and best of all she had all these notes written for us in Portuguese for us to give anyone that could not understand us. These people gave me a birthday party while I was there with all the important birthday things, singing, cake, sparklers, and friendship. I wont go on too long, but it was the best vacation I have ever had and Plinio and Ava became family immediately.
When we left, we could never contact them again because we had the wrong e-mail and wrong phone number, I felt like such a horrible person for not talking to them again. I thought they must think I am so terrible.
Well, I found Plinio and Ava on facebook and guess what Plinio is now a federal agent for Brazil and in NYC this weekend! We are meeting him in the city on Sunday! he universe had to put this together, because of the timing it was perfect. He doesn't even use facebook either and never checked the account except that he was board in his Montreal hotel room. Also, Ava is planning to come stay with me and meet our children! I feel blessed from head to toe, right now! I wanted to share my joy with you in the hopes that it could give anyone feeling down a smile! I love everyone and everything, life is beautiful!!!!!!! maggie
