Lord Melchizedek's February 2009 Message
~ Randall T Monk

QUIETING YOUR MIND AND BEING PRESENT

Greetings, Beloveds. The human mind tends to be very busy thinking,
analyzing, calculating and planning, if unmanaged. Yes, there are
times for all of those things, but there are also times for a peaceful
mind, a quiet mind. We, in the higher realms communicate with you, but
you cannot hear us if your mind is constantly active. You ask a
question and we answer, but often you don’t hear the answer because
your mind is occupied with other thoughts; processing what you did
yesterday, what you are going to do today, and what may happen tomorrow.

When you have a peaceful mind you are in direct contact with the
divine, you have access to wisdom beyond your knowing. You will find
that you react differently to life’s situations when you have a
peaceful mind than you would with a busy mind.

So the question is how do you quiet your mind? How do you have a
peaceful mind? There are several methods. We will address some at this
time.

Our first suggestion is to watch your thoughts; pay attention to what
you are thinking. By watching your thoughts you slow them down; you
can stop them as well. Take a few moments and try it now. Watch what
you are thinking now, in this moment. Watch your thoughts. You can do
this with your eyes open or closed.

Did you notice that your thoughts slowed down or stopped completely?
Did you notice the nature of your thoughts, when they came?

Now that you have stilled your mind for a few moments we ask that you
take five minutes daily and sit in a comfortable position as you watch
your thoughts. In time you may want to expand this to 10, 15, 20
minutes, or more. As thoughts come into your mind, just watch them.
Don’t judge your thoughts or try to push them away. Just watch them.
We suggest that you do this daily, once or twice a day, preferably the
same time or close to the same time each day. If you tire of watching
your thoughts pay attention to your breathing for awhile – watch your
breathing instead.

What you may find is that this works fine now, but as soon as you go
about your day, you lose track of your thoughts, and your mind is
going 100 miles an hour again. At the end of your day you realize that
you haven’t been watching your thoughts throughout the day. One way to
overcome this is to check in periodically during the day. For example,
when you go to the restroom and/or when you wash your hands use these
times as a reminder to pay attention to your thoughts. When you get
into your car use that as an opportunity to pay attention to your
thoughts. When you come upon a stop sign or stop light as you are
driving, use that as an opportunity to pay attention to your thoughts.
Use these or other markers throughout your day to monitor your
thoughts, to watch your thoughts. The more you do this the easier it
will get to watch your thoughts throughout the day.

Another approach is to pay attention to your feelings: as soon as you
have an uncomfortable feeling pay attention to your thoughts. If you
have an uncomfortable feeling you are thinking a thought that does not
bring you pleasure and does not serve you or your highest good.

Another method of quieting your mind is to place your attention on
something. You can place your attention on your heart area for example
or your breath as it enters and leaves your lungs. You can place your
attention on a beautiful scene or anything else that appeals to you
and brings you pleasure. Focus on whatever you place your attention
on. If your mind roams to something else, gently bring it back. Be
present in the moment with whatever you are focusing your attention on.

We encourage you to still your mind and connect with the higher realms
throughout your day. When you monitor your thoughts you will also be
aware of thoughts that are not for your highest good. These thoughts
are lowering your vibration. When you notice these thoughts you can
change them as easy as you change your clothes, by acknowledging the
thought and placing your attention on a thought that gives you
pleasure. Change your thoughts and you will change your life.

Another benefit of monitoring your thoughts is that it brings you into
the present moment. The present moment is where your power lies. The
present moment is all there is. The past does not exist in the past
and the future does not exist in the future, they exist in the present
moment; only the present moment exists, and you have the ability to
affect both the past and the future in the present moment. Beloveds,
we tell you that there is great power in your present moment. Are you
truly in the moment or are you thinking about what happened yesterday,
or worrying about your tomorrow?

This will be challenging at first, but it will get easier with
practice. We ask that you pay attention to your thoughts and focus
your thoughts on what you are doing in the moment. It is a process and
you can perfect it by taking that first step, now, in this moment. If
this resonates with you we ask that you set an intention to monitor
your thoughts and be present in the moment, and as you do so, you will
gain easier access to wisdom from the higher realms, which is
continually being provided, as you ask for it consciously or
unconsciously.

Ask for our assistance and we will be there to assist, after you take
the first step.

You are loved beyond your knowing.
