Akashic Records on Santa Claus and Childhood Reality

Is there a best way to deal with the question of whether Santa Claus is a real person?  My children are experiencing an inner conflict about the reality of Santa and I wonder if there is a best way to work with that question?

The question of Santa Claus, as well as several other stories for children, actually holds the potential for all people to explore the idea of what is real and what is not.  The question of Santa Claus is simply a question of whether third dimensional reality is the only legitimate version of reality.  The answer, for most of you, is that third dimensional reality is not the only reality that is legitimate.  Each of you has a broader definition for what is real.  Most of you believe that there are real things that do not exist in third dimension.  For instance, most of you would agree that Love is real and yet it does not have a physical presence.  It manifests itself in things like gifts or hugs, but Love itself is real and yet it does not exist in physical reality.

Further, most of you know or believe that distinct beings are real though they do not have physical bodies.  Some of you believe in angels, God, spirits, and other such entities.  From the perspective of the Keepers (you might say we are biased, given that we are “real” but without physical bodies!), there are far more non-physical entities in your world than there are physical beings or things.  Your physicists have developed a hint of this in their exploration of dark matter.  It is not dark, it is simply unseen by a third-dimensional perspective.

Every culture on Earth has mythology that includes non-physical beings who are considered to be real.  Santa Claus is only one among many in most western cultures.  Other examples in western culture include the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny.  The idea of these beings presents every parent the opportunity to explicitly define reality for your child.  Most of you have a category for those things that are real and yet not a part of physical reality.  For instance, most of you probably strive to create a sense that there is a real connection between you and your child, although there is no physical chain or physical bond between you.  The bond of love and energy is strong and it is real, and most of you express this in countless different ways.  Most of you do a beautiful job of creating a sense of a real bond despite its lack of a physical presence for your children.

Many of you have a similar question about the existence of angels or the existence of God.  Santa Claus, because it is a publicly agreed upon figure, brings this question up for many people.  The reason that Santa Claus presents a challenge is that the cultural stories about Santa Claus revolve around a physical proof of his existence, including physical gifts and a story about a physical reindeer flight and journey down a chimney.  First and foremost, it is important to decide how you want to define reality for your children and how much of nonphysical reality will be included.  Second, it is important to decide how much you want to emphasize the physical proof of Santa Claus versus the story of the meaning of Santa Claus.  There is no one right way to deal with the question of Santa Claus because it will depend on how you define reality and how you want to define reality for your children.

However, there is a most accurate or most honest way to address the question of Santa Claus.  Because the truth about Santa Claus from the perspective of the Akashic Records is that Santa Claus is real and Santa Claus does not exist as a physical being.  This is exactly the same as most people's version of God.  It is exactly the same as most people's versions of angels.  Angels are real, Spirit Guides are real, the love and the bonds between family members are real and yet they do not have a physical body.  For most children, they have some experience with this already.  Most children at some point develop what adults call an imaginary friend.  But, an imaginary friend is actually real.  An imaginary friend is almost always a Spirit or a Being who already resides with your child and who your child knows very well.  Occasionally, it may not be a separate Being who resides with them, but it might be a part of their psyche that they are unable to grapple with or that they need to personify in order to work with.  In that way they imagine or come up with that part, but it becomes real through their creation of it.  It becomes an energetic entity.  The most honest truth about all of these things is that they are real and despite their lack of physical existence.

It is equally important to consider what your child is capable of understanding.  The bottom line is there is no right way to do it.  It depends on how you want to define reality for your child, what your child is capable of understanding at their current age, and what social pressures your child will need to address regarding their definition of reality.

Is there a good way to help children deal with nightmares?  What is the best way to help children who are having nightmares?

There are two answers – one based on normal childhood development and one based on nightmares that arise from trauma.

Again the answer to this question depends on your family norms and it depends on the situation that your child finds himself in.  There are some common threads for children and nightmares.  One of the common threads is that the experience of nightmares is common and it is a common response to a natural phase of childhood.  This is the phase in which children begin to understand that their reality is not always consistent with consensual reality, with the reality that those around them define as reality.

All babies are born with the ability to comprehend nonphysical Beings.  In fact, for the first few weeks of infancy, babies are more aware of nonphysical entities than they are of physical ones.  They cannot differentiate between you as a physical body and you as an energetic entity except by physical touch.  They can tell that there is warmth, heat and sound, but the intensity of feeling they have in response to your energy is just as strong regardless of whether you appear in a body or in spirit.

An infant is not able to give privilege to your physical presence over your energetic presence -- they experience you energetically as well.  That means that they have an intense and physical response and impression of any presence and Beings who are in the room with you as well.  Your angels, your Spirit Guides, all of the Divine, beautiful, loving Beings who support the third dimensional reality that you are in, infants are completely aware of them.  They experience themselves as surrounded by a room filled with loved ones rather than just the one or two who may be physically present at any given time.  Through infancy through the first few years of life, children assume that all of you can see and feel and experience these different Beings.  Typically they do not feel the need to talk about them because you do not talk about them.  They assume that for you, those energies, those Angels and loving Beings are just as real.

At some point in the development of a child's mind, they come to comprehend that they are separate from the world around them and shortly after that they come to comprehend that you do not see the world the same way that they do.  No children at that age could talk about this process.  It is such a deep brain experience and it occurs so much in the structure of their subconscious minds that they cannot exactly talk about this.  Instead what they experience is often a tremendous sense of loss and confusion about what you consider real versus what they do.  The loss they experience is that most children at that point decide to buy into your version of reality and they decide to stop paying attention to those Beings that they have perceived for their whole lives up until that point.

Most children spend several years of their childhoods slowly but surely ignoring the Angels, the Spirit Guides, and the other Beings who surround them.  Some children maintain a strong sense that they are surrounded and comforted.  Some children lose that sense all together.  Most children develop the idea of an imaginary friend at this time in an effort to maintain their awareness to their most beloved spirit companions.  But most children, especially children who are defined as normal by societies standards forget and lose their ability to fully comprehend those Beings.

This is a natural part of the human process.  Remember you all came here to feel as if you are separate and to forget who you really are.  It is okay that you forget these things and each of you does it in your own way.  It is at that stage in the process, when the grief and the confusion occur, that children often begin to have nightmares for it is scary to them to realize that what they thought was true is no longer true.  It unnerves them; it gives them a sense that they do not know what is true or what is real.  It is usually the first time that they have ever experienced that division in their consciousness.  This is the many children begin to have nightmares.  Their memories of Angels or different Beings begin to feel unfamiliar to them and this is where the psyche can come up with a million different ways to express the process.

Your child may be having nightmares just based on that fear, or they may be having nightmares about a particular Being -- there are a lot of different specific nightmares that arise at this time.  This is usually around age two to three years, and the most useful way to deal with this is not to tell your children that everything, including spirit beings, is real unless they will be surrounded by other adults and children who will support that idea.  Otherwise, what you will do is cause them great social confusion.

It is an important process for children to forget or lose, or at least to comprehend that there is a difference between Beings with a body and Beings without a body.  It is vitally important that you strive to maintain a sense of relaxation and love in regard to that idea so your child can see that you do not feel afraid or worried about the fact that some Beings and energies have a body and some do not.  Your sense of relaxation and openness give them great reassurance at a very confusing time.

It can be helpful to talk about reality as being both physical and non-physical because gives a child’s mind two categories that make sense.  Then their mind can begin the long process of sorting out which is which.  It is important that you acknowledge the “realness” of your child’s experience, for if a child is continually trying to figure out if something does or does not have a body or is or is not real, eventually they lose track of themselves.  This is where you see children really having a hard time making sense of the world.  It is important to give them two categories and you can choose whatever language you want to.  Again, it always depends on what your particular circumstance is.  For children who are experiencing this form of nightmare, this work will help immensely.

There is a second category of nightmares that are associated with trauma and will NOT be resolved by the above approach.  Often nightmares emerge when a child is experiencing trauma and so while this dynamic is common, the dynamic we have described here, always consider that your child's nightmares may be reflecting trauma during their daytime experience, and ALWAYS address any possibility for traumatic situations they might be encountering when they are having nightmares.  If you suspect this is the case, be sure to remove them from any dangerous situations immediately and begin the long work of healing through the avenues available to you and your child.

As long as you have assured the nightmares are not extending from trauma, then go ahead and help them establish these two categories of reality.  Eventually their mind will sort out those two categories and their nightmares will not need to arise in order to sort them out as they sleep. (Nov 2009)
