When we were 13, playing at the pool...15 when you wrote the song for me; 18 when you came and told me you were in love with someone else; 35 after my divorce, and I caught you out playing and we hugged and we were both shaking like leaves stuck on an electric fence. Knowing you were not mine to have, but I love you as if you were. Looking back through old photographs and wondering what you are doing... sitting up at night as a teen, knowing when you would drive by - I'd have the door open and you would stop. Do you remember that? Drinking Wild Turkey on my back porch til 6 in the morning and not being drunk at all. You asking me to prom, but me already having a date. Kind of ironic that our timing has always been so off. My mom inviting you to Thanksgiving dinner, even though I was engaged at the time, and he couldn't be there. You swearing you would love me always. I truly hope you are well... love always... K
