NowhereMan said... Gee, I leave and go into town for some dinner and a couple beers and I come back to a blog on the verge of shutdown. Wow. HEAR THIS PEOPLE:...( but check the general tone of all my posts in all the various threads on this site, to see I've tried to keep a balanced head about it all and not go uber-hippie or skeptic monster on anybody in here)...so hear this: I JUST HAD AN AMAZING THING HAPPEN...it went down as follows: In this blog over the past couple of days, I've made reference to "The Day The Earth Stood Still," and to my Southern heritage by signing off each message I posted with "Klaatu barada nikto, y'all!" I posted the lyrics to the band Klaatu's 1976 tune "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" I posted a link to YouTube video of the tune as well. The backstory on the song in relation to me is long so I'll just say, I've had a personal connection to the song for a long time, way before it's recent re-emergence as some sort of an anthem for World Contact Day. Where is all this leading? After I ate, I made a snap decision to pop into a restaurant supply store next door to where I ate. I am walking down the store isles and I'm loosely humming along to the tune on the loudspeakers. I didn't really hear what was playing at first and then like a tidal wave, it hit me and I literally, froze in my tracks, started shaking at the realization it was the Klaatu tune. I blurted out "OMG the Universe is sending me a message!" I was kinda bugged I would blurt that out like that, actually. I was somewhat disoriented by it all. I felt pressurized and like I was trying to get water off my skin? Hard to describe. I hope the moon is that nice for everyone all around the world. Now, I'm NOT saying aliens talked to me and have sent me the next message for everyone to fall all over but I wanted to share what I felt, honestly and unfiltered through anything but me. All I'm saying is something amazing just occurred for me. FOR ME. I'll debunk myself now, too. I'm analytical that way, lol. It's only fair. Here goes: Like so many others, the catch phrases, lingo and general hubbub of 10-14-08 has been a focal point for at least the past coupel days, for others, months. So, the desired experience was to participate in something otherworldy and amazing. I could simply have preconditioned myslef to receive such an event at the first probably moment available to me. That moment was hearing the Klaatu tune. Sorta like Pavlovian dog experiment. For me, the fact that tune began to play as I walked into that store on a random sudden impulse, was the punchline from the Universe for me. We have had a love/hate/symbiotic affair like this since I was 5, really. These sort of coincidences and teasers happen all the time but this one was a little edgier. I get PWNED by the Universe on a daily basis, lol. I just hope this whole elaborate 10-14 event was not solely set up so the Universe could punk me. That would really suck. Sorry if that ends up being the case and a bunch of you got bummed out. Anyway, I try to stay lighthearted about it, even if it scares the bejeezuz out of me now and then. SO, HERE'S THE DEAL BRAD, keep this little "blog in time" open for biz. Others may be on the way and want to have a forum and an archive of what transpired here on 10-14-08. Who knows? In 1000 years, this site may hold a very special place in a archive somehwere across the galaxy. There is much to be learned from what has transpired here. The lessons may not be clear to all yet but I promise you, something happened here. We are all pilots if we want to be but our lightship is not a thing of fantasy or sci-fi or speculation. Our lightship is very real and we are all of it and it is of us. Our fantastic lightship is the Earth. Rejoice in that and in being an Earthling. Now, let's fix this mess. I'd like to have our house in order before company comes - and they will come. ok, gang, time for a stroll outside for me!...from Alabama, USA...still looking up at a perfect moon, Klaatu barada nikto, y'all! :) |
