The cells of our body, which contain our DNA store memory, which is passed on genetically. When we are facing struggles in life, those struggles, fears and phobias are often not our own, they have been passed down genetically. This is what is often referred to as “the sins of the forefathers”, and this goes back as far as seven generations. When you embark upon any kind of life changing process, you have the opportunity to release yourself from the grip of your ancestors’ “sins”. Ancestral trauma can wreak havoc in our lives at times. Because that pattern is woven into our DNA at conception it is a part of us and these aspects will look for an outlet at some stage of our life. When we can see that it’s not about us, making us a bad person, but rather about an ancestral imprint looking for an outlet, and most importantly, seeking to be healed, reconciled or put to rest, we are better equipped to make necessary changes and do what is needed to change and release that influence. This is when we begin to really see who we are and are able to separate ourselves from the pool of drama taken on from our ancestral line, and truly begin living authentically, in other words, dealing with and empowering who we really are as opposed to drowning in a torrent of emotions and fears that we never initiated in the first place, but rather inherited. This cellular memory is however a part of our fate, and offers positives too because it helps us overcome the shadow self and build ourselves as a person. Nothing is without a purpose, but we must recognize when the purpose has been fulfilled and move on instead of hoping and idealistically fooling ourselves into believing an outdated situation will get better, when in fact it is dead!
