New to Crystals: Attraction?

I recently have been discovering crystals and stuff and I plan of getting many. One of the fossil stones I have has a quality about it, a very strong energy field around it of warmth. I invoked a cleansing of this stone and I had placed it over my heart center, it began to attract very strongly to me and as I pulled it away I felt the pulling, did I blend my energy with this stone, or is there another reason?
