The Whole and Humanity
The Whole, or God, is the pinnacle of the Hierarchy of Creation and as such includes everything both manifested and unmanifested. It has as far as we are able to perceive, unfolded five universes from Its Being. These universes are distinct, but interpenetrate and interact with each other.
Having postulated these five Universes and claimed that Humans have a body in each of them, we must indicate a mechanism for linking these bodies together. If they are not linked, a human would be five creatures rather than a single entity.
The Diagram shown below is intended to be a schematic representation of the model of creation we have outlined to date showing the linking principles.
As you can see it consists of a big circle which contains ten smaller circles, four inner column circles labelled Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and six outer column circles. Each circle is linked to the others in a particular manner.
The Greater Consciousness
The surrounding circle is intended to represent the boundary between Identity Consciousness and the Greater Consciousness which is the only true reality, it is the manifested Whole, or God. It contains everything that ever has been, is, or will be. We can only speculate that the Whole for whatever reason, perhaps to examine its own nature, has chosen to emanate from Itself four further Universes each a different phase of Its One Substance as discussed earlier.
We can use the Diagram as a model to describe the Whole of Creation, or to describe an individual. Hence at the ultimate level we can say the big circle represents the manifested Whole, it is Everything, and contains Everything. At the level of the individual we can say it represents the sum of the individual's being.
Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body
The four inner column circles represent either the totality of the Fire, Water, Air, and Earth Universes; or, the Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Body of the individual.
The six outer column circles represent either the mechanism by which the Fire, Water, Air, and Earth Universes interlink; or, the mechanism by which the Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Body of the individual intercommunicate.
Since we are primarily interested in the nature of the individual rather than in the wider creation, we will at this point restrict the discussion to ourselves.
By definition we will say that the circle linking Fire to Water, or Spirit to Soul represents our Emotional Energy. That linking Fire to Air or Spirit to Mind, our Imagination or Mental Energy; and that linking Fire to Earth or Spirit to Body, our Vitality or Physical Energy. The circle linking Water to Air or Soul to Mind represents our Psychism; and that linking Water to Earth, or Soul to Body, our Personality. Finally the circle linking Air to Earth, or Mind to Body represents our Language Ability or Rational/Logical Thought.
Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body consist exclusively of the Elements in which they have their being, and are, therefore, pure Fire, Water, Air, and Earth Substance respectively. The interlinking principles are dualistic in their nature, and are thus capable of moving within two Substances.
Hence Emotional Energy is an amalgam of Fire and Water or will and feeling. Mental Energy is an amalgam of Fire and Air or will and thought. Physical Energy is an amalgam of Fire and Earth or will and sensation. Psychic Thought is an amalgam of Water and Air or feeling and thought; Personality of Water and Earth or feeling and sensation; and Rational Thought of Air and Earth, or thought and sensation.
The dotted lines linking each of the inner circles with the outer ellipse indicates that Ether, or Consciousness, is capable of moving within each of its sub universes. This should come as no suprise because although Fire, Water, Air, and Earth are differentiated, they are each emanated from Ether, and thus contain some of its qualities. However, the dotted nature of these lines, as opposed to the solid ones joining the inner circles, indicates that each linkage is not total. This means that although within the gestalt of Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Body we are fully integrated, we are not necessarily fully conscious of every aspect of our functioning. This point will be developed later.
Individuals vary in the size and strength of their physical bodies, and no one would deny this since we all perceive it to be the case. In a similar manner we vary in the size and strength of the other facets of our beings, even though many, for political or sociological reasons like to believe otherwise. Such beliefs are held because as a group we are currently conscious at just the physical or Earth level, and are almost completely unconscious at every other level.
The analogy we have made between our Body and the other aspects of our being can be extended further. Having granted that our Spirit, Soul, Mind, and their interconnecting links have a real existence within their Universes, we can understand that they have need of being fed and cared for, and can get damaged or sick if mistreated, just as our physical bodies can suffer if neglected in the physical or Earth Universe.
We all realise it is possible to touch another person physically. Most of us are also aware whether our touching is brutal or sensitive. Society is certainly conscious of the sanctity of the physical body, and has legislated to prevent the physical coercion of one person by another. Most of us however, are not aware that it is possible to directly touch another person at the levels of the Spirit, Soul, and Mind. We like to believe that what we will, feel, or think, is private to us, and ours alone to control. The currently accepted paradigm is that we can keep these aspects of being secret should we so choose, and that each of us has a totally self contained inner world.
