How is 'smudging' effective?

1-31-08 Several people recently have suggested 'smudging' my home to calm spiritual activity down. Iam aware of 'what' it means or how to do it, but I was curious what others opinions of its effectiveness might be...really, with kids in & out of the house and our office located here too, I'm not sure when I could 'smudge' the whole place at one time anyway. Hmm. Or maybe its not that difficult. Any comments or tips would be great!! With Love, Seileann :)
