Broken Wings

Where do Angels with broken wings go?
Broken from life's harsh ways,
by a man whose life is one that strays
from the place where God would have us be?

Where angels take their tears,
Tears born of physical pain,
tears that whose heart's cry causes
tears to fall in showers of anguish
like the summer's thunderous rain.

Where do angels take their broken heart?
Broken from neglect and abuse.
Torn into pieces, torn apart.
From a hatred that is not right.
A hatred that only wants to fight.

Slowly surely the angel turns to find,
That her healing comes from love that is pure,
The trust in a heart that is sure.
She stands under the love as it pours
like a waterfall of sunshine and songs
that washes away all the hurtful wrongs,
and once again has wings that take flight
and rides the winds of her soul and soars
to places where dreams live and joy is in sight.
