Mental illness and awakening

Hiya,

Theres a few websites out there and general sentiment that mental illness can in fact be awakening, and certainly the two have much in common. But theres not enough hullabaloo however from new age sources for psychiatrists to consider the spiritual angle. I just wondered what u all thought of this topic. Ive recently been diagnosed which i disagree with on cultural and spiritual grounds, however unlike indigenous peoples, the 2012/ascension/new age group doesnt voice an opinion on mental illness perhaps because it is so young. Wishing i was an indigineous person right now, or had a clearer voice speaking for us in the new age arena....
