Do you talk to supposedly inanimate objects? I do!

"Aborigines openly and affectionately converse with everything in their surroundings---trees, tools, animals, rocks, and such---as if all things have an intelligence deserving of respect."
From "Voices of the First Day" by Robert Lawlor
I find that talking to things, trees and birds and even the damned dust bunnies, makes the world seem much more integrated for me. Plus it makes life more interesting. They rarely talk back, which I suppose is a good thing, but I wouldn't mind hearing the opinion of my kitchen knife for example and the piece of broccoli it is slicing. Or the Blackbird, or the Tree that stands outside my balcony. I suppose they do speak and I listen, but not with words. Your experiences?
