Crescent The Rat

Love

I have this rat named Crescent. We bought her a couple of weeks ago at PetCo where she was being sold as snake food. Yes, this beautiful fancy rat was going to be food and probably breeded in the worst most absolute conditions. People preach that we shouldn't buy our pets at pet stores but to me I don't care. An animal has a soul no matter what and even if they have health conditions they still deserve to have love in their life. It's unfortunate I couldn't buy all the rats but it's wonderful that I chose Crescent.

I love her story.

I just gotten a job at my work, and Jordan and I were on our way to go get me some work clothes. After all that, we decided we just wanted to pet the animals at PetCo.
When we found Crescent. She crawled on Jordan's head and felt like she was on top of the world. When I held her, she crawled up my chest and gave me a little hug and stayed there.
From here, it was evident that this rat had chosen us as owners and we had to buy her.
We snuck her on the bus and everything. She pooped everywhere and was shaking and almost petrified from fear and didn't want to be held for a while.
I worked on bonding with her for days and days. It took her a week to finally learn her name and get used to people, but now she is the most loving animal I've ever seen. Well, Rodent..
She licks me and plays with me. She likes to cuddle and she is extremely clever. I will make puzzles and what not for her to solve and she will do it! You can clearly see the thought process of her trying to solve a problem.

Anyways, the point of this blog entry is.. I went to the apartment complex where my boyfriend lives right now to go see if I could get approved for the apartment since I was denied before. As soon as I walk in, I'm told that they have been trying to get a hold of me and told me that there was a mistake in the denial of my apartment application and that I had been approved. It had been the happiest day of me life so far this summer. This happened the SAME day after I bought the rat.

It seems since we've gotten her good things have happened to us.

Is it possible maybe this rat is a spirit animal of some sort that has karmic interaction with us? What do rats represent as spirit guides?

All I keep reading is that rats have bad meanings to them, but I find that hard to believe to see how loving and smart this animal is.

Hi Chi,

Thankyou so much for sharing your beautiful story about Crescent, she is indeed one lucky little critter. Your blog made my heart soar with happiness, it's funny how our pet's pick us as their companions, all my pets have chosen me and I feel so blessed and honoured. They fill my life with unconditional love and joy, they remind me constantly that no matter what happens, their feelings for me never change and my feelings for them don't change either. I think they are here to teach us exactly what universal love is all about. It has no boundaries or limitations.

I hope both you and Crescent find happiness and prosperity in your new home. Give her a little extra cuddle from me...the adorable little thing...you made me love her too.

Namaste

What A Nice Story. I Think

What a nice story. I think you've found a good friend in Crescent, and vice versa! Here's the info that I found on rats as a totem animal:

People with a Rat totem have a pronounced drive for success.
Ask yourself if you are pushing too hard
or to the contrary, if you are not pushing hard enough.

Rat also give their totem people a great ability to adapt to almost any environment.
Rat shows you how to gain foresight in any coming situation to avoid problems.
Rat people are cunning and shrewd,
and can defend themselves aggressively when necessary.
They can also be restless and nervous and need to be careful of these traits.

The Hindu God of Overcoming Obstacles Ganesh
uses a Rat as his steed. For the Hindus, the Rat represents prudence and foresight.
Which is the reason that you see rats leaving a ship before it sinks
or scurrying out of a building before it collapses. They know....

To the ancient Egyptians, Rats symbolized wisdom.
Rat is the first sign of the Chinese Zodiac, symbolizing fertility and wealth.
A white Rat is the companion of the Japanese god of happiness and
a symbol of Daikoku, the god of prosperity.
