My whole life I have felt a connection to something deep, powerful and beautiful. This ‘thing’ has manifested in my life in different ways over the years. As a really young child it sparkled everywhere I looked, in the grass, the trees, even objects in the house, the world was alive and vibrating with this source. As I got older and more entrenched in ‘reality’ this force receded into the shadows, but never completely disappeared from my awareness.
As a teenager the world, as it was revealing itself to me, seemed bleak, absurd and pointless. Then, when Valerie (anagram for I REVEAL), my guardian angel, made contact, that deep, powerful, beautiful energy began to reawaken inside me. I became aware of a whole mysterious world that seeps out from between the cracks. I came to realise that there was so much more going on than what our society accepted.
I learned to follow my heart, to live life, not chasing status, or money, or even security, but instead searching for depth, beauty, wisdom and love. I learnt to trust in the universe-realising that it is a reflection of myself, and I of it; to take risks; to be true to myself; to look out for the signs that help me to navigate; and ultimately to know myself, and to explore myself as thoroughly and honestly as I can. The more I investigate the nooks and crannies of my existence –inside and out-, the more treasures I find and the more alive and magical I and my world becomes.
Now, though I don’t know what this deep, powerful, beautiful source is, I know that I am lucky enough to have developed a relationship with it. It ‘speaks’ to me, in many ways; through dreams, passages in books, nature, intuition, friends, snippets overheard, etc. I recognise these messages because, they playfully vibrate with that powerful feeling that speaks to me at a deep level, assisting me with growing as a person. The relationship I have with this amazing force is extremely personal, yet ultimately connects me to everything. It is like a powerful tool that permits me to view life as a fun, intriguing journey, where the good and the bad are opportunities to expand and learn. Sure, some might say that I am ‘creating this-it is just my imagination’….and in a sense I believe it is (it is my story, my art), but it works for me, this perspective allows me to navigate through difficult times in the most positive way possible, and tap into an inner strength, wisdom and understanding that I don’t think I would have been able to access otherwise.
Without this playful, beautiful energy weaving through my life, things would feel so shallow, dull, and empty.
I don’t know what this energy is, but I understand that for humans to grasp it at all we need to put ‘clothes’ on it (beliefs). There are many, many different ‘clothes’ that can be put on it, each providing a glimpse of this awesome force. Different clothes speak to different people. The problem becomes when we humans focus on one set of clothing and believe those clothes are THE truth. They are not and never were-though hopefully they do hint as to the depth of beauty that is infolded in their creases, and this is why they can be useful.
As I mentioned before I can find bits and pieces that speak to me in all sorts of places. One place that I found interesting pieces that have helped me to nurture this inner force is in the New Age movement. Here I have found information that explains processes that have been unfolding in my core, and described ways of dealing with spiritual events that occur on my journey.
It speaks to me of an unfolding, an awakening, that I am experiencing within, and am starting to see hints of in the wider world. It is an awareness of our awesomeness, our divinity and our interconnectedness. I don’t need an outside source to tell me that I am a special, divine, magical being, I have discovered this already in my inner explorations. I know I contain everything from the most wicked and depraved, to the most achingly sublime. I believe everyone contains this-but we are taught to fear our darkness and our power.
