To Become Human

To Become Human

Immortality was what I had before.

Eternity, like the waves upon a shore.

Conceited and arrogant to the core.

So sure my numbness was forever more.

Mighty confidence in my inhumanity.

Nothing could touch, nor humble me.

For I was the stones beneath your feet.

That could stand the cold and blistering heat.

Sweetly, you breezed into my life.

Gently, despite your pain and strife.

Bare from the intensities of the world.

Away from the extremities that swirled.

So icy was my initial contempt.

Of your efforts and pathetic attempts,

To make me step off my throne and join Mankind

To become a slave to the human grind.

You reached your limit, now you’re gone.

But not before I reached my dawn.

Because now I can feel. I can only feel.

Oddly human. Strangely real.

What is this stinging in my eye?

Is it for me, or for you that I cry?

Never before a quake in my voice.

Too late now I have made the choice.

The crack is growing in my infinite wall.

My immortal barrier no longer so tall.

Truth is banging on my door.

To enter and my heart explore.

Till when will you cower from reality?

It’s time to see things with clarity.

To yourself you must awaken,

Or remain a person by all forsaken.
